How to claim EPF online using Aadhaar

Posted by: Girija Gadre on Jun 05, 2017, 06.30 AM IST

A withdrawal claim is made with the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) at the time of retirement to receive accumulated provident fund. The EPFO has now introduced an online facility to process the withdrawal claim, which seeks to bring down the processing time to 15- 20 days and over a period of time, it is envisaged to bring the time down to a few hours.

Prerequisites
The EPF member should have the following in order to process an online withdrawal claim:
1. UAN: A Universal Account Number should have been issued by the EPFO and this number must be activated.
2. The member's mobile number must be registered with the UAN database.
3. The member's Aadhaar details should be seeded in the EPFO website.
4. Member's bank details should be seeded with the UAN.
5. Member's PAN should be seeded in the EPFO database.

Portal
Member e-Seva portal accessible at https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/ should be used for availing this facility.

Process
After logging into the portal, one should select the "Aadhaar based Online Claim Submission" tab. Next, the member needs to verify his KYC details. From the different options for withdrawal claims, the required option must be selected.

Authentication
A one time password is sent to the registered mobile number with UIDAI Aadhaar database. Once this OTP is entered, the claim form is submitted. This initiates withdrawal process. Once the claim is processed, the withdrawal amount is credited to the employee's registered bank account.

Points to note
1. The member is not required to go to the employer to avail this facility.
2. It is important that the mobile number registered with Aadhaar database and the one with EPFO is one and the same.
