There are times when a complaint made against a listed company by its shareholder is not satisfactorily dealt with by the company.
In such a case, investors have the option to escalate the complaint and take it up with Sebi. SCORES (Sebi Complaint Redress System) is a centralised online complaint resolution system through which the complainant can take up his grievance against the company.
SCORES portal The SCORES portal can be accessed by clicking on the following link: http://scores.gov.in/Complaint.aspx.
Complaint registration After accessing the portal, click on the "Complaint registration" tab under "Investor Corner". Fill up personal details such as name, address and contact.
Next, the details of the company that you are complaining against should be given. Click on the given tabs to select the category of complaint. Provide a brief description of the nature of complaint.
Supporting documents To support the complaint with documentary evidence, one can upload pdf documents up to 2MB in size.
Submission Once all mandatory fields are filled and registration form is submitted, a unique registration number is generated and displayed on the screen. The complainant should preserve this number for future correspondence.
Resolution Sebi examines whether the complaint falls under its purview and then forwards the complaint to the concerned listed company advising them to send a written reply to the complainant and file an action taken report in SCORES.
Points to note * If someone does not have access to the online Sebi portal, a physical complaint needs to be sent to the Sebi office.
* One can track the status of the complaint resolution by clicking on "View Complaint Status" under "Investor corner" and entering the unique registration number.
